Budget Accommodation for Up Helly AA 2020
Shetland has many community fire festivals in the winter months. The most famous is the Lerwick Up Helly Aa which takes place on the last Tuesday of January. Over a thousand guisers with torches march through the streets of Lerwick. At the culmination of this parade the torches are thrown onto a replica Viking longship which is burned. Then the party continues in various halls until the early hours of the next morning.

There are also many other smaller Up Helly Aa festivals throughout Shetland.
