A hint of spring in Shetland

Shetland's famous Up Helly Aa fire festival took place last week. It happens at the end of January to celebrate the start of the longer days.after a long winter.

We can now look forward to the nights getting lighter. In June the sun barely sets and we experience the magical 'simmer dim', the summer light. The nights are so bright you can walk at midnight and there is still enough light to see otters, puffins and whoever else is in this landscape with us.

We have availability in the Bridge End Outdoor Centre for group bookings this spring and summer. The cost is just £16 pppn. We also have a campsite with spaces for tents and caravans. Call 01595 859 486 or visit www.bridgeendoutdoors.com for more information or to book.
