You may have seen the images of torches, vikings and a burning galley as Lerwick celebrated Up Helly Aa yesterday but did you know this is only one of many winter fire festivals in Shetland?
There are several rural Up Helly Aa celebrations which may be smaller but are no less spectacular. Often these have the burning of the galley in the sea which is a beautiful site and can make for better photos than you can get in Lerwick.
